• About the Teacher:

Sensei Nazuka is a well-respected martial artist who founded a new style of karate called Karate Do Nazuka Dojo in 2004. Sensei's style is a culmination of 30 years of dedicated practice and commitment offering students the opportunity to learn traditional Japanese karate principals and unique freestyle techniques.

While Sensei focuses on creating a strong physical body, one of his primary focuses is creating a strong and balanced spirit. Sensei believes that karate is for everyone regardless of physical limitations or age.

Sensei was born in Tokyo, Japan where he studied Kyokushin Karate and Judo and received black belts in both styles. He moved to the United States in 1989 to study as an honored Uchi deshi under World Oyama Karate founder Soshu Shigeu Oyama. Under Shoshu's tutelage he received the rank of Shihan, 5th Dan. As a competitive fighter he became the lightweight International Full Contact Champion and World Oyama Champion in 1992. He was a successful World Oyama Karate instructor for 12 years, training male and female knockdown and semi knockdown champions before branching off into his own style.

  • Message from Sensei:

Do you want to start taking Karate but feel you have no time, are too old, or in bad shape? Are you embarrassed you won't able to perform correctly?

It is true that there are many insecurities to overcome and numerous obstacles to consider before taking on Karate lessons, but, basically, any time is the right time for you to start taking lessons. It is an advantage to start at an early age, however there are quite a few middle-aged adults who are registered in our classes who have good purpose and motivations. Training together with others can achieve good motivation and this enthusiasm gets good results. Where as trying to exercise by yourself can lead to loss of interest, friends can give you a hand or good advice and be good motivational factors for training. This is especially true at the early stage of training where it may be hard to stick to a goal. Everybody starts from the same starting line, so there is no judgment among the students. Dojo (the training hall) is a place for people who try and overcome their weakness and discover themselves for the ultimate goal.
